Demolition Permits in Montgomery County
Permit requirements for demolition in Montgomery County depend on where your property is located.
Unincorporated Montgomery County — Demolition falls under the county's Development Permit process. A Development Permit is required for any man-made change to improved real estate in unincorporated areas, including structure removal. Applications are submitted to the Montgomery County Permit Office.
City of Conroe — Permits are handled through the City of Conroe's building department. Demolition of a residential structure requires a demolition permit prior to work beginning.
City of Montgomery — Permits are issued through the Planning & Development office at 101 Old Plantersville Rd. Typical processing time is 5–10 business days. Contractor registration is required before permit issuance.
Kingwood (inside Houston city limits) — Demolition permits go through the City of Houston's permitting office, not Montgomery County.
